Mercedes-Benz opened its first-ever dealership for all electric vehicles, settling on Japan for the milestone.

The Yokohama store, south of the capital city of Tokyo, is a joint effort of Mercedes and Tokyo-based dealership Stern Setagaya. It sells the all-electric Mercedes-EQ series.

"We wanted to be the first to establish a sales base dedicated to electric vehicles in Japan to aggressively promote our EVs to Japanese consumers," Mercedes-Benz Japan President Kintaro Ueno said.

Mercedes has introduced five EV models since 2019 and plans two more next year. It’s the top foreign automaker by sales in Japan, though domestic manufacturers have a corner on the market.
