With vehicle prices still on the higher side, many consumers are holding onto their older models longer. A new ranking shows which brands they’ll have the best chance of stretching the longest.

The 12th annual iSeeCars list of the vehicles most likely to reach a quarter-million miles includes some familiar brands.

Toyota sits at the top as the longest lasting brand, and many of its models pepper the top-30 ranking, taking up about a third of the spots. Those include the Tundra pickup, the longest lasting vehicle, which iSeeCars says is four times as likely to reach 250,000 miles than the average model, at about a 9% chance.

ISeeCars says it evaluated more than 400 million vehicles to arrive at its list.

“Modern vehicles are getting more durable, with 30 models offering between a 12 and 36 percent chance of reaching a quarter million miles,” said Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “Many consumers still consider a car’s usable lifespan to end at 100,000 miles. But our latest longest-lasting study confirms that even 200,000 miles isn’t the end of the line for many cars. The top nine cars on this year’s list have a better than 20 percent chance of hitting 250,000 miles.”

While trucks and SUVs take up many of the list’s entries, some sedans also tough it out with the big vehicles, four making the ranking, including Toyota’s midsize Avalon, which ISeeCars gives a 22% chance of reaching its magic mileage marker.

ISeeCars' full list and subrankings of the long-lasting models can be found on its website.
