LAS VEGAS — Organizers of the upcoming Agent Summit announced that Automotive Compliance Education (ACE) will offer Certified Automotive Compliance Specialist training and certification to registered attendees for no additional charge. This year’s event will be held May 20–23 at the Venetian & Palazzo Resort Hotel Casinos in Las Vegas.
ACE certification will begin at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. The organization’s executive director, Gil Van Over III, will lead a comprehensive, three-hour review that will be followed by a two-hour exam.
“While we should always leave legal advice to the lawyers, it is important for both independent agents and provider personnel to know the basics of dealership compliance,” said Van Over, a dealer consultant, compliance expert and founder of gvo3 & Associates. “This course offers basic training in the essential legal topics agents and industry personnel should be familiar with. It isn’t necessary for you to be able to disarm a landmine, but you should be able to recognize one so you don’t step on it.”
ACE returns to Agent Summit after certifying scores of agents and industry executives at last year’s event. The organization also offers certification through such industry partners as American Financial & Automotive Services, which relies on ACE to certify its entire agent network. Certification is earned by attending the review session and earning a passing grade on the exam.
“ACE certification is not easily earned, but those who participate will be rewarded with a fundamental understanding of automotive compliance and new components to add to their F&I development programs,” said David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of Agent Entrepreneur and F&I and Showroom magazines. “As most agents know, the two pursuits are, at this point, inextricably linked.”
