Ford has recalled nearly 43,000 Bronco Sports and Escapes over a fuel injector issue that could lead to fire.
The recall affects certain 2022 and 2023 Bronco Sports and 2022 Escapes with 1.5-liter engines. Ford says that a fuel injector could crack, leaking fuel into the engine compartment and presenting risk of fire, according to a notice on the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's website.
The action is an expansion of an earlier recall.
Ford dealers will make an engine-control software update to add leak detection, plus install a drain tube.
The automaker is scheduled to mail notices to owners this month.
